Sparks Have Been Flying – August Jobs Round-Up ⚡

It’s been a lively month here at JB Electrical – from rewiring garage conversions to lighting up gardens, we’ve been keeping busy making Hertfordshire brighter, safer, and a little bit smarter. Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to (and a few tips to save you some cash while keeping your home safe).

Garage Conversion Rewire – Hertford

One of our favourite jobs this month – turning a garage into a proper office and utility room. We gave it a full rewire, added plenty of sockets and installed safe, modern lighting. Now the space is ready for home working without the worry of trailing extension leads everywhere.

Garden Glow-Up 🌙

Summer nights call for good vibes, and we delivered with a full garden lighting installation in Ware plus outdoor sockets for all the essentials – hot tubs, BBQs, fairy lights… you name it. To keep it all safe, we also upgraded the consumer unit. No blown fuses when the music’s pumping – just safe, reliable power for a cracking garden setup.

Yale Alarm Upgrade

Security is no joke, but it doesn’t mean the kit has to be old-fashioned. We fitted a shiny new Yale alarm system this month, giving the customer peace of mind and a system that won’t let them down. Because sleeping easy is priceless.

Powering Up for Summer Entertaining

We’ve been busy fitting outdoor sockets left, right, and centre. Nothing says summer like being able to plug in the speakers, run the garden lights, and still have power left for the pizza oven. No messy extension leads running through the kitchen window – just safe, neat, weatherproof sockets.

EICRs – Keeping Landlords Covered

Plenty of Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) ticked off this month too. Landlords need these by law, but we’re also seeing more homeowners book them in for peace of mind. Think of it as an MOT for your electrics – spot the problems early, save money in the long run.

• Go LED – Switching to LED bulbs saves up to 80% on lighting bills. Cheaper to run, lasts longer… what’s not to like?

• Outdoor Power Done Properly – Weatherproof, RCD-protected sockets keep you safe and your gadgets alive. Don’t risk it with a dodgy extension reels.

• More Sockets, Less Stress – Plan your power points. Installing proper sockets is safer and often cheaper in the long run than juggling extensions.

The Rules Keep Changing… ⚡

Electrical regs love to keep us on our toes. Here’s the quick version:

• RCDs – these life-saving devices now need to be on almost every circuit.

• SPDs – surge protection is highly recommended to protect your fancy TVs, computers, and smart gadgets.

• EICRs – legally needed for rentals, but smart for homeowners too.

Don’t worry about the small print – that’s our job. We stay up to date so your electrics stay safe.
